In Our Backyard formed in June 2016, building on the work of Bertram (deacon in training) to bring the cares of the world to St. Tim’s. The goals for the group are to build empathy for the needs of people in our surrounding cities, in order to discern the best way to help and then to act in response. The group meets monthly to learn about organizations in our area such as the Community Services Agency (food and housing safety net resource), the Silicon Valley Bike Exchange, and EqualStart (an early education program).
In September we held a healthy food drive for the CSA (St. Tim’s contributed over 300 lbs. of food!) and open house. Our call to action now is to build a sustainable ministry to serve those in need.
