Youth Ministry
Abbot Lot came to Abbot Joseph and said: Father, according as I am able, I keep
my little rule, and my little fast, my prayer, meditation and contemplative
silence; and according as I am able I strive to cleanse my heart of thoughts:
now what more should I do? The elder rose up in reply and stretched out his
hands to heaven, and his fingers became like ten lamps of fire, and he said:
Why not be totally changed into fire?

Spiritual development, faith formation, relationship building, life's big and
little questions — with junior highers and teenagers, it's all about the
opportunity to be totally changed into fire. We believe that children and teens
possess extraordinary openness and sensitivity to the journey of faith when
their leadership is honored and their voices are heard throughout the Church.
Here at St. Tim's, our youth are lifted up as ministers, from filling our
worship band to reading Bible lessons in worship, to running the sound booth
during worship (with livestreaming video/audio to Europe). Our teens are
encouraged to be a visible, vocal part of church life and many activities this
coming year will push that to a new level, with a planned art gallery
installation, documentary film production, and a summer mission trip.
