A Covenantal Response to Poverty

As this parish moves forward together, it searches for ways to move faithly into the world to make a difference. One of our parish initiatives called "Faith in Action 24/7" states, "Through witness and service, we will act as disciples of Christ in the larger community and the world." St. Timothy's is ready to take that next step now, and move into the world as the hands and feet of a healing God and compassionate Savior.

Our Lenten focus, "A Covenantal Response to Poverty", is designed to raise awareness of the Biblical mandate to care for the poor and hungry, and equip us with information about the causes of poverty, reasons for hope, and our role in lessening the suffering of God's people.

We will hear stories of our own parishioner's struggles; difficult choices made with limited resources. We will hear from community leaders who work tirelessly to help the oppressed. We will explore our own fears and prejudices. Jesus will move and challenge us to see the face of God in the face of the poor. Using our own unique gifts and the power of the Holy Spirit, we will respond faithfully to the call of service.
