Women's Retreat

January 21-23, 2011

Are you a woman? Are you looking for spiritual renewal? Do you need to connect with a community of other women? Or are you just looking to spend some time walking on the beach, living in wonder at the vastness and power of God's creation?

Whatever your motivation, we invite you to join us for "Pathways to Prayer," our 2011 Women's Retreat. Jan Wiersma, a Lutheran minister from Minnesota, is joining us to lead our workshop sessions. We hope every woman in the parish can find something in this weekend that feeds her. A team has been working hard to make this accessible to everyone. You may participate as you are comfortable, and leave the rest.

The Rev. Pat Moore, chaplain of the Bishop's Ranch, spoke eloquently of making time for this kind of "sabbath" in our lives, "I'm talking rest, and joy, and saying no. I'm talking resting in the arms of God. I'm talking embodied. Living in our bodies. Loving our bodies. Living in creation. Loving creation. Entrusting ourselves to God's ongoing creativity at work. Living into God. Loving God. Giving thanks for the sheer gift of life. I'm talking sleep, relationship. Remembering who we are. I'm talking freedom. Stillness. Listening. Reflecting. Simply being."

That is what we seek to provide. Our site is the gorgeous Asilomar Conference Center on the beach near Monterey. It is a site well-known for its beauty and for its tasty food. As usual, there will be also be afternoon workshops, including the possibility of walks along the beach, journeys into Monterey, chances to do yoga, and a rosary-making workshop.

Most important, though, is that the retreat is a chance for our community to regroup, reconnect, and rejuvenate ourselves. To chat with others over common meals and evening gatherings. To celebrate who we are and what God is calling us to be. We hope you will join us.
