The Book

The Book, based on The Bethel Series, is a 40-week study of the old and new testaments. Over one hundred parishioners have graduated from this class, and several have been trained to lead it.

The course leads participants through the biblical narrative to provide a strong foundation of biblical knowledge and understanding. This approach gives the student an understanding of the biblical themes as they relate to the entire text.

The Bethel Series has been used for over 40 years in thousands of churches all around the world. Its balanced, holistic approach avoids both the errors of fundamentalism (which believes God inspired every word of Scripture to be without error of any kind) as well as the errors of scientism (which believes God does not address humanity through the agency of faithful and discerning prophets).

Systematic reading of the Bible in the company of others with guided discipline is the best way to come to understand how God speaks to humanity through this ancient text.

The Book is a 40-week commitment, with most classes lasting a year because of breaks during the summer and holidays.
