Helen Wooldridge Preschool
Director
I am a native Californian, born and raised
in the Bay Area. I attended a Califronia university, earning a BA in
Languages and Child Psychology. I continued my education, taking Early
Childhood Education classes and seminars. I have two grown children who are St. Timothy's Preschool Graduates.
For as long as I can remember, I have loved to teach. Playing school
was a childhood pastime. At age12, I gave ballet classes to neighborhood
children. At 14, I tutored at the elementary school. At 16, I taught
at a local ballet school. As a young adult, I taught Sunday School,
volunteered at Morgan Center and Zonta (schools for the emotionally
disabled), and developed a Nutrition Program for the Saratoga School
District.
My connection with St.
Timothy's Preschool began when I was investigating preschools
for my son. At St. Tim's, I saw happy, engaged, peaceful, and caring
children. As an educator, I knew that the teacher had fostered these
attitudes. I registered him that day! He loved his St. Tim's experience,
and I made and continue to enjoy lasting friendships with the parents
of the friends my children had in the preschool. When my daughter was a student
at St. Tim's, I was asked to be a substitute teacher. In 1978, I joined
the staff as a teacher. Five years later, I became the director.
In 1991, I developed the Science Program, a unique, multi-intelligences,
and literature-based science curriculum for pre-kindergarteners. It
is a popular class and well known in the community.
Please feel free to call me at the church, (650) 967-4724, with questions about the
Preschool. I would be happy to show you our facility, and talk
about your needs and those of your child. I hope to meet you soon.
